ProMAXX Tool’s new Cylinder Head Repair Kit, which includes the new Blind ProSert, allows technicians to salvage a botched repair where an attempt to drill out a broken exhaust manifold bolt has penetrated the cylinder head. After completely extracting the damaged bolt, a technician uses a shop-grade tooling tap to prepare the hole. Then the Blind ProSert, with a light coat of liquid thread locker, is inserted into the hole, completing a repair that will remain leak free.
“Drilling freehand or with an inferior tool increases the risk of head damage,” said Jeffrey Del Rossa, President and Founder of ProMAXX Tool. “If a technician drilled off-center, into the threads or through the cylinder head, their only choice was to remove and replace the entire cylinder head. This can take up to 15 hours or more. Now, thanks to tooling bits gilded with Bolt Repair Kit, ProTap and Blind ProSerts, technicians will complete a stronger-than-factory repair in about 15 minutes.
The Blind ProSert fits any 8mm bolt hole, used by most car manufacturers including Ford, BMW, GM, Mercedes-Benz, CDJR, Audi and many more. Blind ProSerts are made of premium hardened steel and black oxide coated for corrosion resistance. They are available individually, in packs of three and six. Repair times may vary depending on the severity of the head damage.
