The Chevrolet brand of General Motors Co. of Detroit introduced the 2024 Chevrolet Trax, a small SUV, pricing starts at $21,495.

Larger than today’s Trax, it offers more space for passengers and cargo, as well as more standard and available content. The new range of standard security features and technologies are designed to help customers stay connected.

Five distinct trims – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV – offer design and content choices, while all trims add enhanced features and technologies, including Chevy Safety Assist with six advanced safety and awareness technologies driver’s side, larger infotainment screens and a standard 8-inch-diagonal system and 11-inch-diagonal screen on LT, 2RS and ACTIV trims.

Other featured technologies include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless capabilities; LED headlights; 17 inch, 18 inch or 19 inch wheels; four-wheel disc brakes; active noise cancellation.

The new Trax is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged inline-three engine rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The turbo contributes to excellent on-demand power, especially for passing maneuvers and ramp acceleration.

A stance longer, lower and wider than the current model, the 2024 Trax features a new design inspired by the Chevrolet Blazer.

“The bold exterior and state-of-the-art interior design of the all-new Trax redefines what an entry-level vehicle can be,” said Phil Zak, executive director of design at Chevrolet. “It demonstrates that sleek, modern design doesn’t have to be a premium.”

Up front, clean horizontal lines emphasize the vehicle’s width and are designed around the lines of Chevy’s signature bow tie in the center of the grille, which extend to the slim Blazer-inspired headlamps that feature all-new styling elements. LED lighting. Chevy’s signature high-eye LED daytime running lights make Trax more visible, day or night.

The Trax’s interior was designed to have a light feel, using sweeping lines and light, and technical cues that emphasize the width of the vehicle and create a feeling of lightness.

The display screens are the centerpiece of the forward-thinking design, with the infotainment screen angled slightly towards the driver, for more intuitive control. LS and 1RS trims have an 8-inch-diagonal infotainment color touchscreen, while LT, 2RS and ACTIV have an 11-inch-diagonal infotainment color touchscreen and a driver information center of 8 inches diagonally.

The various trims also get their own decor and accents, with LT featuring black seats with Sky Cool Gray accents, 2RS featuring red accents on the seats and a flat-bottomed racing-inspired steering wheel, ACTIV featuring Evotex seats with yellow and RS accents and ACTIV trim with black bowtie emblems.

Additional standard and available content includes a center console with an ergonomically optimized shifter location; an electronic parking brake opens up more storage space in the console; four bottle holders and two cup holders; heated front seats, steering wheel and exterior mirrors are standard on 1RS, 2RS and ACTIV and available on LT.

Heated front seats and exterior mirrors available on LS; remote start is standard on 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV and available on LS; automatic climate control, push-button start and USB ports added to rear seats on LT, 2RS and ACTIV; electrically adjustable driver’s seat on ACTIV; and an available sunroof.
