8tree expands use of aircraft damage mapping – Metrology and Quality News

Horizon Air, a regional airline in the western United States, began using dentCHECK to improve the efficiency and quality of its aircraft damage reporting and mapping activities.

“With dentCHECK, Horizon is able to quickly and accurately map bumps and get aircraft back into service safely,” said Archie Vega, line maintenance manager at Horizon Air. “dentCHECK allows us to quickly assess and map dents in a fraction of the time it would take to map by hand. This will advance our capabilities in the future as we begin to expand the use of dentCHECK to other Horizon maintenance sites.

“We are delighted to welcome Horizon Air to 8tree’s growing dentCHECK customer base”said Arun Chhabra, CEO of 8tree. “Horizon joins the rapidly growing global aviation community of more than three dozen airlines, MROs and OEMs that rely on dentCHECK for end-to-end verifiable digital mapping and reporting on a wide variety of commercial aircraft, cargo, business and defense.. We look forward to strengthening Horizon’s maintenance operations and introducing them to 8tree’s exceptional customer service.

8tree has also secured three years of dentCHECK support from L3Harris Technologies, a world leader in aerospace and defense technology innovation. L3Harris’ Aircraft Mission Center in Greenville, Texas uses dentCHECK to improve the efficiency and quality of its aircraft damage mapping activities.

“In our experience, the technical rigor of the L3Harris team is unmatched,” said Arun Chhabra, CEO of 8tree. “In light of this, it was all the more gratifying for us when they decided to implement dentCHECK at their Greenville site a few years ago to improve their diligent aircraft damage mapping processes. We are honored and excited to play our small part in the mission to support the warfighter to protect our nation and its allies. We look forward to continuing to enable L3Harris with our technologies and introducing them to 8tree’s exceptional customer service.

The dentCHECK portable handheld is a fully wireless 3D scanner with built-in AR, specifically designed for the aircraft maintenance industry. It is now used by the world’s leading commercial, freight and defense MROs. Providing real-time “go/no-go” responses at the touch of a button, the tool dramatically reduces damage mapping and reporting times, compared to traditional manual methods that use depth gauges and straight rules.

Approved and recognized by all major aerospace OEMs (Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer), dentCHECK is used by the world’s leading airlines/MROs for fast and accurate damage mapping and SRM-compliant multi-tooth reporting. Compared to traditional inspection methods, dentCHECK offers a 90% gain in efficiency and 35 times greater measurement consistency.

OEM acceptance has led to the widespread adoption of dentCHECK among airlines/MROs. Detailed case studies from easyJet, Delta TechOps and TAP-M&E, as well as news from Lufthansa Technik, Kalitta Air, Aeromexico, Airbus’ Flightline, DHL-Express and Zeppelin, demonstrate that dentCHECK significantly reduces inspection times and ratio up to 90%. This shortens aircraft turnaround time (TaT), which further reduces lost revenue and very directly improves operational efficiency for airlines. dentCHECK improves safety through a better understanding of cell reliability.
