Ushr Inc., a Livonia-based subsidiary of Dynamic Map Platform Co. (DMP), announced that Japanese Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corp. for Transport and Urban Development (JOIN) will invest up to approximately $43 million to support DMP’s expansion in Europe.

Additionally, DMP will invest up to $44 million to expand its high-definition (HD) map data and software capabilities with a new European subsidiary, DMP Europe GmbH (DMP-EU).

“By establishing HD map coverage in Europe, DMP and Ushr are taking a big step forward in supporting global automakers,” said Christopher Thibodeau, CEO of Ushr. “Collecting topography-grade roads and assigning high-quality features enables proper vehicle operation for ADAS functions.

“For the ultimate in driver safety and convenience, an HD lane-level map should be comprehensive, simple and accurate. We are thrilled to see DMP and JOIN delivering on their vision for global product expansion.

With this investment, JOIN aims to support the expansion of DMP Group’s data coverage as well as help Japanese automakers increase their sales of vehicles in Europe equipped with the same HD map and software data format as those sold. in Japan and North America.

The investment is also expected to help “promote the use of digital technology and data,” which is one of the strategic pillars set out in the Japanese government’s Overseas Infrastructure System Promotion Strategy 2025.

With the international standardization of HD cards expected in the future, JOIN plans to support and facilitate discussions and negotiations with public sectors to promote DMP’s technological expertise in overseas markets.
