Cognex Corporation introduced the DataMan 280 series fixed barcode readers. The DataMan 280 is designed to solve a wide range of identification applications including 1D, 2D and Direct Part Mark (DPM) code applications difficult in manufacturing and logistics.
“Cognex specializes in decoding the most difficult-to-read barcodes with maximum speed and accuracy,” said Carl Gerst, executive vice president of products and platforms for Cognex. “Optimized with our latest patented decoding algorithms, the DataMan 280 combines the advanced technology of Cognex’s high-end identification platforms in a compact, cost-effective package.”
The DataMan 280 features a high resolution sensor combined with a dynamic imaging system to improve code handling and coverage. This technology, along with connectivity options for today’s Industry 4.0 manufacturing needs, enables users to reliably read complex barcodes while improving overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and debit.
DataMan 280 is ideal for reading codes on automotive parts and medical devices, bottles and packaging, pallets and for scanning presentations. Combined with Cognex Edge Intelligence (EI), it delivers advanced Industry 4.0 features such as simplified web browser connectivity, device management, and performance monitoring. Modular hardware and software can be configured to solve any application and future-proof your investment.
Machine vision tools and barcode scanning systems produce a wealth of information-rich data on manufacturing and logistics sites. The efficient collection and analysis of data from highly interconnected devices is the backbone of Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) initiatives. Edge computing complements centralized cloud-based analytics by delivering computing power right next to production lines and logistics operations to quickly collect data and extract context-rich insights. The Cognex Edge Intelligence (EI) platform turns big data into intelligent data and provides real-time system performance monitoring and device management to improve overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and throughput.
Modular hardware, including field-interchangeable lights and lenses and the latest software algorithms, can be configured to solve any barcode reading challenge. The DataMan 280 can be configured straight or right angled for tight spaces. For applications with an increased field of view and high-speed multi-sided scanning, multiple readers can be deployed together.
